Brussels Charleroi Airport: Anti-glare film PV for warehouse

Our client WDP (Warehouses De Pauw) recently completed an impressive project: An 8.5 MWp solar park on logistics buildings directly at Brussels South Charleroi Airport.

Since the facility is located immediately next to the runway, a glare assessment was crucial. The goal was to reduce potential reflections from the approximately 12,000 PV modules so that air traffic would not be affected. Our technology was the decisive enabler here: Over 5,000 modules were equipped with the Phytonics Anti-glare film, thus excluding glare caused by the PV system.

The surface of our film is refined with a functional coating that features a specialised microstructure. This ensures that specular reflection (the mirror-like reflection) is effectively suppressed. As a result, the reflected luminance is reduced to an absolute minimum. This is the decisive factor for flight safety, as hazardous glare effects for pilots are physically prevented.

For this project, precisely cut film sheets were delivered and applied on site – an established procedure that can be reliably used for project-specific applications. The result is maximum safety for air traffic combined with high energy efficiency.
