Anti-glare solution for Schiphol Airport

Entrance Area of Schiphol Airport Main Hall

On the roofs of the new A Pier at Schiphol Airport, a photovoltaic system with our Anti-glare film was installed. The project was carried out in close cooperation with our partner Solar Essentials.

The new building covers around 55,000 square meters, features several boarding gates, and will become a central part of the airport infrastructure. The goal is to create Schiphol’s most sustainable pier – with high energy and resource efficiency, the use of sustainable materials, and large roof areas utilized for photovoltaics.

As a security-critical infrastructure, an airport is subject to particularly strict regulations, especially regarding potential glare effects for pilots. By using Phytonics Anti-glare film, these requirements were reliably met, and the roof areas were sustainably utilized without affecting the sensitive flight operations.

The project demonstrates how photovoltaics can be implemented safely, compliantly, and economically even at the most demanding locations – with Phytonics as an enabler for PV on sensitive infrastructure.
